Cell-Phones, Texting and Crash Risk

A recent study A Comparison of the Cell Phone Driver and the Drunk Driver shows that the risk of crash for driving while using a cell-phone is 4 times that of a non-impaired driver. This turns out to be the same rik of crash for driving with a Blood Alcohol Content (BAC) of .08%. For a driver who is texting, the risk of crash is 8 times that of a non-impaired driver. The study found that truckers who texted while driving were 23 times more likely to crash.

Also, read (and view the video) the PBS/Newshour interview Cell Phone Use Raises Risks While Driving, Studies Show with the author of the above study.
